Refill problems
Check automatic and manual refill of WaterGuard Refill
Automatic refill does not start
Work through these checks in order:
- Is WaterGuard online? If not, solve the connectivity problem first. After the safety timeout, WaterGuard deactivates its outputs.
- Is “Automatic refill” enabled? Check under Settings → Refill unit whether automatic refill is enabled.
- Is the level actually below the minimum level? Automatic refill starts when the level falls below it.
- Is the measured level plausible? A level measured too high correctly prevents refilling. First check Level and sensor.
- Is a switching output configured as the refill unit? Check under Settings switching outputs; the default is VALVE 1 = Refill unit.
- Is refill shown as active in the dashboard? If yes, WaterGuard has requested the process: check the water supply, solenoid valve, installation and accessories. If no, check the automatic conditions, connection status and output configuration again.
If everything is correct but refill still does not activate, contact myCistern support.
Refill is active but no water flows
If the dashboard shows “Refill unit active”, WaterGuard has requested refilling. Check:
- Is the water supply open?
- Is the solenoid valve installed correctly?
- Is the connection to the valve visibly correct?
- Is an approved 24 V DC solenoid valve being used?
- Is there a mechanical problem or blockage?
Do not take risky measurements under voltage. If the problem cannot be clearly resolved, contact a qualified installer or myCistern support. Non-certified accessories are not supported for WaterGuard Refill; see Solenoid valves and accessories.
Refill does not stop immediately at the minimum level
This can be normal behaviour: automatic refill has a fixed minimum runtime of 30 seconds. If the minimum level is reached during this time, refill may continue until the minimum runtime has elapsed. This prevents unnecessary frequent switching of the solenoid valve.
If refill continues significantly longer, check the dashboard status:
- If it still shows “active”, check the logic, threshold and possible errors.
- If it shows “inactive” but water continues to flow, read the next section.
Water continues to flow although refill is inactive
If the dashboard shows the refill unit as inactive, WaterGuard is no longer requesting refill.
In case of uncontrolled water inflow
Close the water supply manually before investigating the further cause.
The cause is probably the solenoid valve, the water installation, a mechanically open valve or an external component. Have the valve and installation checked. A software reset cannot reliably fix a mechanically open valve.
Maximum refill duration exceeded – error 100
Error 100 (“Maximum refill duration exceeded”) means that WaterGuard started an automatic refill but could not reach the configured minimum level within the permitted maximum refill duration. This does not automatically mean a leak.
Possible causes include no water supply, a valve that does not open, insufficient flow, a restricted supply line, water loss, unusually high consumption, a maximum duration set too short, or implausible sensor, tank or threshold settings.
Diagnosis
- The real water level does not rise: check the inlet, valve and water installation.
- The real water level rises but the dashboard height does not: check Level and sensor, especially the sensor offset and installation.
- The height rises correctly but the minimum level is not reached in time: check the maximum refill duration, inlet performance, tank size, unusual consumption and possible leakage.
After resolving the issue, confirm or reset the error using the button shown in the dashboard. The error is not cleared automatically.
Manual refill does not end automatically
Important
The maximum refill duration configured for automatic operation does not automatically end a manually started refill. Do not assume that manual refill stops at the minimum level or after the configured maximum time.
Manual refill runs without a time limit until it is stopped through the interface. Stop the manual process so that unwanted water inflow does not occur.
