Connectivity issues
Check the Wi-Fi connection and online status of your WaterGuard
WaterGuard does not connect to my Wi-Fi
WaterGuard has the following Wi-Fi requirements:
- 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi is supported.
- WPA2 is supported.
- WPA3 is not supported.
- A network using only 5 GHz Wi-Fi is not supported.
- Networks requiring an additional browser or captive-portal login are not supported.
Key point
Use 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi with WPA2.
Also check that the router is switched on. Restart the router and WaterGuard if necessary, reconnect to the device hotspot and enter the Wi-Fi credentials again.
Device does not appear in the app
- Check whether the device is powered and the LED is lit.
- Refresh the device view in the myCistern app.
- Make sure the smartphone and WaterGuard are sufficiently close during setup.
Frequent connection drops or Wi-Fi connected but device still offline
A working connection to the router does not automatically mean that the cloud is reachable:
WaterGuard → Wi-Fi → Router → Internet → myCistern cloud
Check the Wi-Fi signal strength at the installation location. If the signal is weak, move the router closer or use a Wi-Fi repeater. Also make sure that the router is not overloaded and has internet access.
Under Telemetry in the dashboard, Wi-Fi SSID, IP address, MAC address and Wi-Fi RSSI are available to help narrow down the connection problem.
