Installation
Installing and setting up the WaterGuard Refill Controller
Qualified installer only
This work may only be carried out by a qualified installer. Disconnect the WaterGuard from the power supply before opening the housing or changing connections.
This guide describes the mounting and setup of the WaterGuard Refill Controller. Carry out the steps in the order given.
Warning
Work on electrical equipment may only be carried out by qualified personnel. If you are unsure, seek professional advice. Do not carry out repairs yourself or dismantle the controller further than this guide describes. The controller and power supply are not suitable for outdoor use: mount the controller in a dry location, protected from excessive moisture, wetness and direct sunlight – for example in a utility room, watertight garden shed or weather-protected shelter. The controller must not be installed in the cistern dome or submerged.
Preparation
Danger
Disconnect the power supply before opening the device housing or making any electrical connections. All electrical work must be carried out in accordance with the applicable regulations. Only qualified personnel may carry out electrical installations.
Required Tools

Drill
with a 5 mm drill bit for the wall plugs

Cordless screwdriver
with a PZ2 bit
Mounting Location
- The mounting surface must be flat, dry and load-bearing.
- Power supply and sensor cable must be reachable at the mounting location.
- Check with a mobile device whether the Wi-Fi signal at the mounting location is sufficient.
Mounting and Connection
Attach the mounting plate
Hold the mounting plate against the wall at the desired position and mark the screw positions. Drill the holes with a 5 mm drill bit, depending on the wall construction. Then insert the wall plugs and secure the mounting plate with the screws.

Secure the sensor box in the cistern dome
Secure the sensor box using the included moulded part in the dome of the cistern. The moulded part compensates for the curvature of the dome. Align the sensor box so that the sensor hangs straight down.
Danger
Never immerse the black sensor box at the upper end of the sensor in water. The box contains the pressure equalisation. It is protected against moisture, but it is not waterproof.
Warning
Do not cut or shorten the sensor. The sensor cable has a universal length. Cutting or shortening it would permanently damage the sensor. Coil any excess cable and secure it neatly.
Caution
Leave the sensor capsule hanging at least 5 cm above the tank floor so that it does not rest in sediment or other contamination.

Route the sensor cable
Route the sensor cable from the WaterGuard Refill Controller to the tank opening. Route the cable so that it is not kinked, pinched or put under tension.

Connect the sensor
Plug the data cable into the socket that is led out of the housing of the WaterGuard Refill Controller. Then secure the connection with the union nut of the data cable.

Connect the valves
- Loosen the four housing screws with a 2.5 mm hex key and open the housing.
- Open the orange lever clamps of Valve 1+/1− or Valve 2+/2− on the circuit board.
- Connect the solenoid valve to the two clamps of the selected output. With the original myCistern 24 V DC valve, you do not need to observe polarity.
- Close the lever clamps and check the connections for a firm fit and correctly inserted wires.
Warning
The two switching outputs are each rated for a maximum of 0.5 A at 24 V DC. For higher loads, use an external relay or contactor.

Connect the power supply
Plug the connector of the 24 V DC power supply into the designated socket on the circuit board.

Insert the silicone seals
Close the housing cutouts with the supplied silicone seals. Use the strain-relief seals for occupied and the blanking seals for unoccupied cutouts.

Insert the back plate
Insert the back plate into the housing. Then screw the housing closed with the four supplied socket head screws. Use a 2.5 mm hex key for this.

Attach the controller to the mounting plate
Place the WaterGuard Refill Controller onto the top of the mounting plate. Then slide it downwards until it sits securely in the holder.

Plug in the power supply
Plug the power supply into a wall outlet. The WaterGuard Refill Controller then starts up.

Register the device in the myCistern app
Register the device
Scan the QR code on the back of the WaterGuard Refill Controller. This adds the device to your myCistern account.

Set up Wi-Fi
Note
Wi-Fi setup does not take place in the myCistern app. Connect your smartphone directly to the hotspot of the WaterGuard Refill Controller for this purpose.
Connect to the device hotspot
Open the Wi-Fi settings on your smartphone and connect to the network whose name begins with myC-WG-.
Open the WiFi Configurator
After connecting, a pop-up with the myCistern WaterGuard WiFi Configurator should open automatically. Tap on Configure WiFi there.

Save the credentials
Tap on Save. Then wait while the WaterGuard Refill Controller saves the credentials and establishes the connection to the Wi-Fi network.

Warning
If the connection fails, reconnect your smartphone to the device hotspot and repeat the Wi-Fi setup.
